I met Sue Whitney of Junk Beautiful!

Sue Whitney at Lucketts

Talk about a dream coming full circle! Years ago, when I was first getting into this business, I would pour over the Junk Market Style books written by Ki Nassauer and Sue Whitney. They really inspired my love of upcycling – the art of making something out of nothing.

Sue was set up at the Lucketts Spring Market promoting her new book, Junk Beautiful – She Sheds. I was also a vendor at the market and I had my camper set up – I mean that’s the perfect She Shed right there AND you can take it with you! I bought her book and we ended up having a great conversation. She even did a on-camera interview with me in front of the camper where she ended up telling me that I inspire her! Wait! What?!

It was an incredible moment for me for sure! I ended up traveling to PA to be a vendor in her show, Vintage in the Vines. I love when passion brings like-minded people together and in the end we all inspire each other – that’s what a Tribe is all about! Just out here keeping the Vintage Vibe alive ya’ll!

Gypsy Prom 2019

Gypsy Prom Barn Dance 2019

Y’all!!! Gypsy Prom Barn Dance 2019 was such a magical evening filled with twinkle lights and good vibes!

We had 4 vintage campers on site for photo backdrops and tours. Kombi Keg served beer and Buskey Cider all night while Right on Time Mobile Diner kept us all fed! Zip 9 rocked the barn and everyone came dressed to impress in their best boho getup! We danced under the stars, made friends and laughed the night away. We crowned a new Gypsy Prom Queen and King and made memories that will last a lifetime – that’s what Gypsy Prom is all about!

I can not think our hosts at Frolic Farm enough for letting us enjoy their property once again. Stay tuned for information regarding the next one!

Trash to Treasure

I found this little red chair next to a trashcan in the alley. Someone had thrown it out because the cane seat had broken. I ripped up the broken seat, added a galvanized bucket and garden hose wreath and it now lives on as a whimsical plant holder! It was meant to be! A true trash to treasure moment!

The camper is complete!

What a labor of love! It took Jan – September to complete this baby! That’s nine months! And we literally feel like we grew and birthed a baby lol! Welcome (back) to the world Medley! I am so glad we could save you!

It might have taken 9 months, but I kept a work log and it was really only 26 working days. And most of those days weren’t days at all… they were a couple hours here and there. In between kids and work and normal adult responsibilities. And over several glasses of wine and charcuterie boards. Rachel and I kinda have a thing for charcuterie boards. But it was always a happy hour when I got to work on the camper with my best friend! It was a lot of work and very overwhelming at times, but I learned so much and now we have a tiny home on wheels that we can take anywhere! I can’t wait until our next adventure!

It’s a rescue!

Don’t worry little green desk! I’ll save you!

I rescued this sweetie from the side of the road because I saw potential. I cut it in two, turning it into two end tables and the sanded it like crazy because the veneer was popping off in several places and I was going to paint it.

Once it was all sanded down though, I really fell in love with the chippy green patina! They sold first thing at a vintage market so at lease someone else agreed with me. I love it when I can save a piece of furniture from the dump! Truly the ultimate recycle!

Vintage Camper Restoration

We got a vintage 1950s camper! We bought it from a friend who saved it from a salvage yard.

We ripped it down to the frame – and even had to replace some of the framing. And we are in the process of building it back up! Follow Rusticity Decor on Instagram to see progress pics.

#1 Fan

I found this old box fan at a estate sale and it came home with me because of it’s color – I mean… you can’t beat that turquoise patina! It sat in my workshop for awhile because I wasn’t sure what to do with it… and then it just hit me! It needs to be a shelf! I cleaned it up, removed the fan and one of the grates and then added some wooden shelves. It turned out so cute! I didn’t want to part with it! Alas, it sold at one of my vintage markets – I can’t keep everything. At least it went to a good home!
