Hi! I’m Libbie! Self proclaimed Junker, Upcycler, Treasure Hunter and Dreamer.
I am the type of person who always needs a project to work on and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty – definitely a true country girl at heart. As my mom likes to say, I constantly have a “bee in my bonnet,” so it’s only natural that I don’t fit behind a desk all day.
I grew up in the country and had a very humble up-bringing. I was one of five kids and my dad owned his own construction company where he designed and built custom homes – so he was the architect and the builder! He was super handy and believed in making the most of what you have. My mom is also very handy and a brilliant decorator. Both of them loved vintage and on a rainy day they would pile us all in the family van and we would go antiquing together. I loved going to the flea markets and shows and talking to the vendors about their treasures. My humble upbringing really made me the person that I am today. I always say that not having a lot of money forces you to be creative! I also prefer to not have what every body else has… I like the unique pieces! That’s just how I grew up!
I just want to do something that I am passionate about. I believe that if you are passionate about something then that is God’s way of telling you that you are meant to do THAT something! So in 2013 I started working part-time so I could focus on Rusticity. Since then, I have been a vendor in over 40 vintage markets, I have sold my wares in several local shops, I created and styled two Gypsy Prom Barn Dance events, I have decorated several weddings and social gatherings AND in 2018, my friend and I completely renovated a vintage camper, lovingly named Medley.
So… in a nutshell, I am just a vintage soul who’s life is a giant treasure hunt – so follow along as I share my junking and camping adventures!
